6-year-old killed in Riley County accident

MANHATTAN, Kansas – Officers with the Riley County Police Department as well as area emergency responders were called to a fatal collision in the 2400 block of Tuttle Creek Blvd. Monday evening.

The collision occurred north of the intersection of Tuttle Creek Blvd. and Northfield Road in Manhattan and involved a 2001 Ford Ranger containing two occupants.

When officers arrived on the scene they were able to determine that the Ford Ranger had lost control and collided with a 2013 Chevy Cruze which was traveling in the same direction. The driver of the Chevy Cruze was uninjured. The Ford Ranger left the roadway and collided with a tree.

Thirty-nine-year-old Joshua Mall of Riley, Kansas was transported to a Topeka hospital.

The passenger, 6-year-old Madilyn Mall, was also transported to Via Christi Hospital.  She died a short time later.

Police are continuing to investigate at this time.
