WICHITA, Kan. – A district court judge in Wichita Wednesday granted a request by the Maize school district to stop a planned road closure near Maize Elementary School.

Eighteenth Judicial District Court Judge William Wooley granted the district’s request for a temporary restraining order to delay the project.  The road closure along the access road from Maize Road to the school was scheduled to begin Monday and last about six weeks.

The school district said closing the access road would cause safety and other problems.

The school district said in a release Wednesday afternoon a developer who wanted to close the road first will build a temporary road to accommodate traffic before the access road is closed.
