Crews respond to apartment fire in south Wichita

WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita fire crews responded to house fire in the 900 block of South Topeka. It broke out just after 9 a.m.

The home had been converted into a 4-plex. When crews arrived, smoke was showing, and crews found the fire in a bedroom. They were able to get it under control quickly.

Eleven people inside the apartment made it out, but one person suffered smoke inhalation.

Fire officials say they will remain on the scene for a few more hours to make sure the fire doesn’t flare up.
