Arrest made in Fort Hays State University sexual assault

HAYS, Kansas – An arrest has been made in an alleged sexual assault that occurred at Fort Hays State University.

Fort Hays State University police arrested 20-year-old Fernando Insaurralde-Cantero, an International student from Paraguay, on Tuesday.

The assault occurred in the early morning hours on Sunday, Sep. 20, in one of the residence halls on campus.

Cantero appeared in Ellis County Court Wednesday morning and was charged with rape, aggravated criminal sodomy, and aggravated burglary.  His bond was set at $250,000. He remains in the Ellis County Jail.
