WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita police say a 29-year-old man was arrested after attempting to place a camera in a women’s restroom at Wesley Medical Center Sunday night.
Wichita Police Department spokesman Lt. James Espinoza says the camera was discovered shortly before 8 p.m.
Montriqus Brown, 29, was arrested at the hospital and booked into Sedgwick County Jail around 11 p.m. after being identified by the video on his own camera which was recording as he placed the camera in the restroom.
The suspect in this case made law enforcement’s job pretty easy. Police say Brown was still hanging around in the hospital after someone tipped off security about the camera. When officers looked at the footage, they saw the suspect’s face. We asked women visiting the hospital Monday for their reaction.
“Oh my God why in a hospital that’s pretty desperate,” said Tracy Nix.
“I think he could find much more interesting places, yeah I don’t get that,” said Janelle Kauffman.
Wesley’s Security Director released this statement on Monday:
Last night, Wesley Medical Center security officers worked with the Wichita Police Department to quickly identify and arrest a man accused of placing a cell phone camera in a restroom at the hospital. We are cooperating with the authorities and are appreciative of their efforts to help keep our patients safe.”
He is being held on suspicion of breach of privacy with a bond of $25,000.
