WICHITA, Kansas – Hundreds of kids took advantage of Saturday’s weather and took to O.J. Watson Park to enjoy some outdoor activities.
Wichita’s Park and Recreation Department hosted the fourth annual Wichita Play Day. Organizers say they want to encourage kids to get outside and create time with their families, instead of sitting at home, spending time on social media. Physical fitness was a key factor for this event.
“We have everything from bounce houses for the kids, we have hula hooping, jump roping, we’ve got a lot of activities for basketball, a lot of sports activities. Three legged race, you name it, we have it here today,” said Wichita Recreation Superintendent, Greg Olmer.
EMS, police and the fire department were there to show kids what they do every day. The event was free, but money raised from vendors Saturday will go back into the Wichita Play Day program.
