One person injured in Barton County vehicle pursuit

BARTON, COUNTY, Kan. – One person was injured early Saturday morning in a vehicle pursuit in Barton County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says a truckdriven by a 24-year-old man who was fleeing Russell County sheriff’s deputies shortly after midnight Saturday morning crashed his car at the end of a pursuit.  The crash took place on US 281 at mile marker 119 southbound which is about 4 miles West of Hoisington.

The Patrol says the man’s Ford F-150 truck left the roadway, traveled into a ditch where it struck a field entrance drive, and vaulted over the drive and came to rest in ditch.

The driver, who was from Flora Vista, was taken to Clara Barton Hospital in unknown condition.

The reason the man was fleeing officers is not known.
