MOUNDRIDGE, Kansas – Authorities say a home was destroyed in an explosion in McPherson County.

According to McPherson County Sheriff’s Capt. Doug Anderson, the explosion happened about 6 p.m. Wednesday in Moundridge. He said the home, which a preliminary report says is vacant, is a total loss. No injuries were reported.

One man who lives about 50 yards from the house that exploded said it shook his home so hard he thought a car had crashed into the side of his house.

The sheriff’s department and firefighters responded to the scene.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
