FOX LAKE, Illinois (NBC News) – Police and federal agents admit they have little to go on as they continue their search for three suspects in the murder of a Fox, Lake Illinois police officer.
On Wednesday police expanded the scope of the manhunt in the Chicago suburban area, working outside of the two-square mile area focused on shortly after the shooting.
More than 400 local, state and federal officers have been a part of the search for three suspects described only as two white and one black man who allegedly shot and killed Fox Lake Lt. Charles J. Gliniewicz.
Investigators say Gliniewicz was responding to a “suspicious activity” call early Tuesday. When back-up arrived they found Gliniewicz dead, his service revolver and other gear missing.
