CHULA VISTA, Calif. – Security video shows a man running out of a California jewelry store with an entire display case.

It happened in just seconds and with customers inches from the suspect.

“When he came in he looked very normal,” said David Rossi, owner of King Jewelers in Chula Vista, California.

It happened in the middle of the afternoon.

“One of my employees asked if he could help him, and he said no I’m just looking around,” said Rossi. “That’s it. It happened that fast. Literally throws it in the truck. It almost doesn’t stay in the truck.”

Rossi and his daughters ran after the suspect seen escaping in a Ford f-150 pickup. They said there was a woman inside the truck.

“My youngest daughter actually grabbed onto his truck,” Rossi said. “Your gut feeling is to try and do what you can to get it back.”

Rossi believes the suspect wanted to do this in the middle of day with customers around. He thinks the burglar wanted employees to be distracted.

Inside the case were Rolex and Omega watches and rings. The whole thing is worth roughly $10,000-$20,000.

Chula Vista police say they do have some leads on the truck, but need help identifying the suspect.
