HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Firefighters in Hutchinson battled a fire in a two-story home Wednesday afternoon.

Battalion Fire Chief Rex Albright said in a news release crews responded to the fire shortly before 11:25 a.m. in the 5800 block of N. Monroe. Albright said when crews arrived on the scene they found the home was totally involved.

Fire crews were forced to lay 1,600 feet of hose from the nearest water supply down an extended drive to fight the blaze and keep it from extending into the home’s garage.

Albright said the home, valued at approximately $67,000, was a total loss.

No one was at home at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and is under investigation.
