University of Tennessee monument loses ‘blanket of paint’ due to heat, humidity

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee – The heat and humidity finally got to The Rock on the University of Tennessee campus Wednesday causing a huge chunk of years’ worth of paint to slide off.

The university tweeted out pictures of the massive chunk of paint which fell from the monument Wednesday. The university also tweeted it still has the “paint blanket” and is trying to determine what to do with it.

The Rock is a well-known campus monument which students frequently use to paint messages upon. It was moved in July 2009 diagonally across the street from its original location to make way for a new Student Health Center.
