Second person arrested in Douglas & Estelle murder

WICHITA, Kan. – A second person has been taken into custody in a homicide that took place at Douglas and Estelle streets in Wichita on Wednesday, July 8.

Police say 49-year-old Richard Romero was shot and killed about 2:50 Wednesday morning during a birthday gathering at home, and that the shooting took place in the street.

Sedgwick County jail records show a 52-year-old man was taken into custody and booked for second-degree murder at 12:52 a.m. Saturday.

Jail arrest records identify another person was booked on first-degree murder charges Wednesday afternoon in connection with the case.
