Man arrested in Wichita after nine years on the run

WICHITA, Kan. – The U.S. Marshals Service has arrested a man in Wichita who has been at large since December 2006.

In a news release, the USMS said Roberto Martinez-Marcial was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and Wichita Police Department on July 9th in Wichita, KS.

Martinez was wanted for Attempted Murder and 1st Degree Burglary out of Sioux Center, Iowa after he became upset when he found out his girlfriend had ended their relationship.

The Marshals Service said Martinez-Marcial allegedly stabbed her new boyfriend and chased his girlfriend out of the house where the incident occurred.

Martinez-Marcial had eluded law enforcement by using false names and identification. He was taken into custody in the 100 block of S. Greenwich when he left a residence at that location.

Martinez-Marcial was booked into the Sedgwick County jail where he faces extradition to Iowa.
