SALINA, Kan. (AP) – A preliminary hearing has been rescheduled for four men accused of killing a Salina teenager.
Macio Palacio Jr., 18-year-old Stephen Gentry, 19-year-old Daniel Sims, and 19-year-old Jerome Forbes are charged with first-degree murder in the May 6 shooting death of Allie Saum. A juvenile charged in the case has an August hearing to determine if he’ll be prosecuted as an adult.
A hearing for the men had been set for Thursday but was rescheduled for Sept. 10. The Salina Journal reports defense lawyers sought the continuance so they could review additional information in the case.
Police say Saum’s murder was a case of mistaken identity. She was shot and killed when she was a passenger in a pickup truck that was mistaken for someone else’s truck.
