6 children taken into protective police custody

WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita police say six children have been placed into protective police custody.

The latest happened Thursday around 3 p.m. A counselor at a camp for kids noticed a 7-year-old boy with with a handprint on his face. The 7-year-old told police he was assaulted by his father the previous night.

Police went to the home in southeast Wichita and talked with five more kids. All six were taken into protective custody. The children range in age from 6 to 11 years old.

The father wasn’t arrested. Police are continuing their investigation.
