Police officer injured in southeast Wichita

WICHITA, Kansas – A Wichita police officer received minor injuries after a scuffle with a suspect near Harry and Woodlawn in southeast Wichita. It happened around 1 a.m. Thursday.

A Wichita police spokesman says an officer wanted to talk to a man who just committed a pedestrian violation. The suspect ran, and officers caught up him.

While trying to arrest the suspect, he hit the officer a couple of times. The officer received minor injuries.

The suspect was arrested for three counts of battery of a law enforcement officer, possession of meth, walking on the roadway, and resisting police.
