The cap to a great day will be the Fugate Enterprises/ Taco Bell/ Pizza Hut Fireworks, starting at 10:00 p.m. In addition to fireworks over the river, there will also be low-level pyrotechnics fired from a barge in the river.
The Wichita Parks Foundation will host the inaugural Independence Day Block Party presented by Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers on Saturday, July 4th from 1:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. downtown on the Hyatt Lawn, the Lewis Street Bridge, and west to Maple and Sycamore. The event is being funded by the volunteer-led, non-profit Wichita Parks Foundation and our generous sponsors.
This year’s inaugural event will feature:
Music from sponsor 97.1 Bob FM & Connoisseur Media all day, throughout the block party area. On air personalities will be on hand to lead the festivities.
A 1,000-foot water slip-and-slide created by Slide the City. To purchase tickets, go to http://www.slidethecity.com, or purchase on site the day of the event. Tickets start at $20 for a one-time slide.
A Free Activity Zone in the south Lawrence Dumont Stadium Parking lot until 6:00 PM, featuring inflatables for the kids, pumptrack and skateboard demo area by American Ramp Company, sponsored by Welldone Skate Supply and Bicycle Xchange; food vendors (including Funky Monkey Munchies, Delano BBQ and Kona Ice) and other games and activities.
A beer garden, as well as food from the Hyatt, all day on the Hyatt Lawn.
A baseball game in Lawrence-Dumont Stadium, featuring the Puerto Rico National Team vs. the US9 Armed Forces Baseball team. The Puerto Rico team will tour the country in the month leading up to their participation on the 2015 National Baseball Congress Tournament in Wichita, this game being a warm-up for the tourney. The game starts at 6:35 with general admission tickets priced at $7. Purchase those ticket at the gate or on Select-a-seat’s website.
Up-and-coming country artist Jessica Lynn will perform a FREE concert on the Hyatt Lawn Stage at 3:00. Jessica has toured with major country acts like Brad Paisley, Eric Church, Dierks Bentley, Lady Antebellum and others.
Local favorite Lucky People will perform a FREE concert on the Hyatt Lawn Stage, starting at 7:00. A special ceremony precedes the concert at 6:30. Food vendors and the beer garden will be set up near the lawn as well.

Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy a relaxing and family-friendly evening at High Park. The sand volleyball court near the enclosed shelter will be turned into a large sandbox with items to build sand castles. Sure to entertain your kids for hours! Corn hole sets will be available and there will be three bounce houses. Food will be available for purchase from B.S. Sandwich Press, Kona Ice and Black Sheep Kettle Korn. Hiland Dairy will give away free ice cream. Arrive early to avoid parking delays.

Living history personnel staffing the historic buildings throughout the weekend with daily historic weapons demonstrations and the 1841 Mountain Howitzer cannon. Special programs and demonstrations all day on the 4th. FREE ADMISSION.
