Fire department looking for leads on Dollar General fire

WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita Fire Department investigators are asking the public’s help in tracking down the person responsible for starting a fire on June 23rd that left two firefighters injured.

The fire occurred at 1:03 p.m. at the Dollar General store in the 2400 block of W. Pawnee. Nine occupants of the building were able to escape. However, two firefighters suffered minor injuries and were taken to an area hospital for treatment. Fire officials say the fire was intentionally set.

Anyone with any information should call the WFD Fire Investigation Unit at (316) 350-3127 or Wichita/Sedgwick County Crime Stoppers at (316) 267-2111. The fire was intentionally set, according to Fire officials.

“We want to talk to anyone who was in the store just before and at the time of the fire,” said Wichita Fire Department Capt. Kelly Zane.

All calls to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and could lead to a reward of up to $2,000 for the tipster.
