HESSTON, Kansas – Eli, a 2-year-old battling Leukemia, wished to have a Kawasaki Mule to ride with his dad.
On Monday, the wish for his very own Mule came true at Dan’s Cycle in Hesston as a brand new Kawasaki Mule was revealed to him.
“Every time we come over here, even if we’re just going on a family walk, he’ll want to stop and sit on all of them and act like he’s driving them,” said Crystal Vela, Eli’s mother.
Eli loves riding the lawn mower, and the tractor with his dad. The two often visit Dan’s Cycle shop to sit in the Mules and pretend to drive.
“This is something already a couple of members of the community said, well hey, we got this farm out here where he can come out here and we’ll give him. He can drive his equipment around, and we’ll give him tours of the area,” said Dan Erb, Dan’s Cycle.
“The wishes that light a child’s imagination in a different way spark more creativity on my staff’s part to figure out how we make them come together,” said Dr. April Abernethy, Make-A-Wish Kansas.
Eli is in remission but will still undergo treatments for three more years.
