Former Trinity High coach sentenced for sex crimes

HUTCHINSON, Kansas – A former Hutchinson Trinity High School coach pleaded guilty to child sex crimes.

On Friday, Patrick Blevins was sentenced to one life term with no chance of parole for 25 years, under Jessica’s Law.

Last month, he entered a plea deal. The deal kept six victims from testifying in court, and prevented those victims from being identified.

Under the plea deal, Blevins agreed to plead guilty to one count. The Reno County District Attorney made a note that there were six victims.

Blevins also waived his right to appeal his sentence as part of the plea deal.

According to the Reno County Sheriff’s Department website, in March, Blevins was initially arrested and held on suspicion of these charges:

  • Two counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child less than 14 years-of-age; Aggravated; Lewd Fondling or Touching; Offender over 17 years of age
  • One count of Sodomy; Aggravated; Offender 18 or older and child less than 14 years-of-age
  • Two counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child less than 14 years-of-age; Aggravated; Cause Child to Engage in Lewd Fondling/Touching; Offender over 17 years of age

A restitution hearing for Patrick Blevins is scheduled for July 2.
