HARPER COUNTY, Kansas – A pair of earthquakes struck in south central Kansas Friday afternoon with one of them registering 4.0 on the Richter Scale.
The first of the two quakes struck about 6:12 p.m. near Harper, Kansas. It registered 3.7 on the scale and was located about 4.2 miles south east of Harper. The epicenter of the quake was about 4.2 miles below the surface.
The second quake, which registered 4.0 on the Richter scale, also struck at 6:12 p.m.about two-and-a-half miles from the other quake, about 3.5 miles north northeast of Anthony, Kansas. The U-S Geological Survey says its epicenter was put at three miles below the surface.
There were no reports of injuries from either quake.
