WICHITA, Kansas – If you’ve never given fishing a try but would like to cast a line, you can do it for free this weekend in Kansas.

The “Free Fishing Weekend” is hosted by the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism.

While the license requirement is waived, KDWPT says anglers are still bound by all other regulations such as length, the number of fish you’re allowed to catch and keep, and equipment requirements.

If you’re new to the sport or are looking for a new place to fish, click here.

Kansas residents can purchase their 2015 annual fishing license for just $20.50. All licenses expire Dec. 31 each year, except five-day, lifetime, and 24-hour fishing licenses. Fishing Licenses may be purchased online or any Kansas Department Wildlife & Parks office.
