WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita police are investigating a case of child endangerment after a 3-year-old boy was found wandering on a west Wichita street.

It happened just before 9 p.m. Wednesday night in the 2800 block of West Douglas. A 52-year-old woman called police to report the child.

Police spent an hour trying to find the guardian of the boy. Police took the child to the Wichita Children’s Home.

Around 10:30 p.m., a woman, who says she is the boy’s stepmother, called police from the 100 block of North Mt. Carmel trying to find the boy.

Police told her where he was. They say the child wasn’t returned that evening.
