Bee swarm leads to careless driving ticket

MONTANA (MEDIA GENERAL) – Montana Highway Patrol officers discovered an unusual driving distraction when they responded to the call of a driver all over the road.

The troopers were called May 22. The caller had said the inside of the car had bees all over the windows flying throughout the car.

When troopers got there, the driver said the bees were harmless Russian honey bees.

The driver had five hives with thousands of bees inside the car. After a little digging, troopers discovered there are no permits needed to transport bees through Montana.

The driver received a ticket for careless driving.
