BOSTON, Massachusetts (MEDIA GENERAL) – If you’re looking to pack up and move this year, you may want to set your GPS for New England.
That region is home to the most states deemed the safest to live in, according to a new analysis by WalletHub.
The 2015 rankings are based on 20 key metrics, including the number of per capita assaults, deadly workplace injuries and percentage of state population lacking health insurance coverage.
Southern states dominated the bottom of the list.
Other key findings:
- California has the lowest estimated property loss from climate disaster.
- Texas has the largest population group without health insurance.
- Indiana has the third lowest number of law enforcement employees, behind Ohio (No. 49), Illinois (No. 50) and New Mexico (No. 51).
- Michigan has the third highest rate of bullying incidents, behind Idaho and Montana.
