PHOENIX (AP) — A Phoenix mother has been arrested for allegedly leaving her 4-month-old daughter in a hot SUV.

Phoenix police say 32-year-old Erika Quintanilla was booked Friday on a child endangerment charge.

Police spokesman James Holmes says Quintanilla’s daughter was inside a locked SUV outside a Ross store near 24th Street and Baseline Road.

Holmes says Quintanilla came out with her 12-year-old daughter just as the baby was being transported to a hospital.

Quintanilla initially told police she didn’t plan to be in the store long but then said she forgot the baby was there.

The infant is now with her father.

Police believe the baby was in the car for 20 minutes and the temperature outside was around 104 degrees.

It was not known if Quintanilla had a lawyer.
