JETMORE, Kansas– As rain water completely covered roads and bridges local officials in Hodgeman County had to wait for the water to recede before seeing the damage left behind.
“Several roads have been washed out, of course the bridges are in pretty bad shape as you can see by the looks of this one,” said Undersheriff Rory tillett referencing the bridge over Buckner Creek.
Luckily no injuries were reported, but several roadways and bridges were severely affected and many will likely need extensive repairs.
“Probably require some FEMA money to come in and prepare the bridge and the road,” Tillett said.
Hodgeman County is in the process of applying for those FEMA grants. In the meantime they’ll keep some roads closed until they’re safe to pass.
