EL DORADO, Kansas – Severe thunderstorms moved through south central Kansas Tuesday night.
Large hail the size of baseballs broke out car windows and skylights at the El Dorado Wal-Mart store. The store was closed as workers cleaned up the damage inside.
“The plastic skylights started giving in,” said Donald Taylor, inside Wal-Mart store. “Pieces of plastic were falling through. People were running around, and it was kind of chaos.”
KSN asked the general manager about the extent of the damage. He referred us to media relations for Wal-Mart out of Arkansas. Store employees say they should reopen around noon Wednesday.
Before moving east, the storms produced very heavy rain along with some quarter to golf ball size in parts of Wichita.
In Haysville, there were reports of pea to nickel size hail.
