WICHITA, Kansas – It’s been a rough weekend for people who were planning to spend it outdoors. That also means it’s been a tough break for the businesses that depend on those visitors.
Park rangers say campsites like those in the Cheney State Park are normally wall-to-wall with campers. Instead, Saturday’s torrential downpours left most campers abandoning their campsites and heading home.
Rangers say some people returned on Sunday and they’ve seen a little more traffic on the lake. But, compared to years past the rangers say the crowds aren’t what they expected.
Tomorrow’s weather for the camping areas around Wichita call for partly cloudy and warm conditions with a slight chance of showers and a high around 80 degrees.
