Kapaun Mt. Carmel golf team wins rain-shortened City League championship

WICHITA, Kansas – Prevailing through less than ideal conditions, Kapaun Mt. Carmel weathered the storm, winning the 2015 City League title in boy’s prep golf on Wednesday afternoon at Tex Consolver Golf Course.

With the rain-soaked tournament shortened to nine holes, Kapaun ended up winning the team championship with an overall score of 155. Bishop Carroll finished in second carding a 161.

KMC’s Matthew Wells edged out his teammate Alex Graf for the individual City League title. Tied at 37, Wells won in a playoff.

Hoping to play a full 18 holes, Wells told KSN, “I kind of wanted to play, I just enjoy being out there. I didn’t care what the weather was like, so I was looking forward to finishing out, even though it was in tough conditions because I was playing well, but it worked out.”
