Man arrested for Hutchinson Community College threat

HUTCHINSON, Kansas — Hutchinson police have arrested a 19-year-old man for posting threats on social media related to Hutchinson Community College.

The Hutchinson Police Department said that officers were dispatched to campus around 8:00 a.m. Tuesday after college security reported that a threat had been posted to commit violence on campus. There were no other specifics given in the threat.

According to police, officers worked with the school’s IT department and tracked down a potential suspect.

Police questioned 19-year-old Cody Turner and arrested him on a charge of Criminal Threat. KSAL reports that the New Cambria man was a volunteer firefighter for Saline County Rural Fire District #5.
