White Sox storm back for 2nd Sunday victory against Royals

CHICAGO, Illinois – Former WSU Shocker Conor Gillaspie drilled a two-run single in Chicago’s five-run sixth inning, and the White Sox rallied to knock off the Royals 5-3 for their second win against Kansas City on Sunday.

The afternoon started with Avisail Garcia’s two-out RBI single sending Chicago to a 3-2 victory in a game that resumed after being suspended by rain Friday. An error on Kansas City third baseman Mike Moustakas helped end Edinson Volquez’s day on the hill en route to Chicago’s second win in six games against the Royals.

John Danks pitched six innings of three-run ball while improving to 8-1 in 18 career starts against Kansas City.

Volquez allowed five runs, one earned, on five hits in 5 2/3 innings of work for the Royals.

K.C. left fielder Alex Gordon made an amazing leaping catch in the second game. He sprinted over and jumped into the stands down the left-field line to grab a foul ball off the bat of Micah Johnson. He landed in a group of fans and got a standing ovation. Gordon also hit a home run in the loss.
