Wichita State dedicates first student sculpture

WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita State University held a dedication for a new Peace Pole in the Shocker Hall courtyard Thursday.

The pole is the first student sculpture permanently installed at WSU.

“It is important to remind each other that today more than ever we must learn to stand together or we will all fall,” said Chandler Williams, president of Global Faith in Action College.

The ceremony included performances and a reception. Everyone that was in attendance received a ribbon that they tied to the sculpture during the ceremony.

The Peace Pole Project is an international movement that started after the bombing of Hiroshima.
