Three additional arrests made in Garden City murder

GARDEN CITY, Kansas – The Garden City Police Department has made three additional arrests in a murder.

On Sunday around 6:50 p.m., Garden City police responded to the 4100 block of East Highway 50 for an aggravated battery.

When officers arrived, they found a man, 21-year-old Karlton Waechter of Garden City, with multiple gunshot wounds.

He was transported to St Catherine Hospital where he died.

Officers located the first suspect identified as 32-year-old Michael George. He was arrested. Others arrested include 33-year-old Jeff Rigdon, 18-year-old Maricella DeLeon, and 28-year-old Cesar Fierro-Acevedo. They are all from Garden City. All three suspects are in the Finney County Jail.

Rigdon is facing charges of felony first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, attempted aggravated robbery, criminal possession of a firearm by a felon, felony Interference with an LEO, and auto burglary. Fierro-Acevedo faces felony first-degree murder, attempted aggravated robbery, and criminal possession of a firearm by a felon. DeLeon faces possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. The investigation is ongoing.

George is also being held on charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, attempted aggravated robbery, aggravated battery, possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
