Wallace County tops Beloit-St. John 72-61 to win 1A-2 title

DODGE CITY, Kan. (AP) — Luke Schemm scored 19 points to lift Wallace County over Beloit-St. John in a 72-61 victory in the boys’ 1A-2 state title game.

Wallace County (24-2) went into the fourth quarter tied 50-50 with Beloit-St. John (24-2), but pulled ahead with 22-point surge.

Brothers Trey and Davis Dubbert led the scoring for Beloit-St. John with 27 points for Trey and 16 for Davis. The fraternal duo took 36 of the team’s 55 total shots.

Wallace County had 14 points from its bench, including 8 by Spencer Medina.

The title game was a rematch of last year’s 1A-2 championship in which Beloit-St. John edged Wallace County 60-58 for the win.
