St. John beats Central Plains 49-44 for 2A title

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — Senior Dean Wade scored 28 points and nabbed 13 rebounds as St. John beat Central Plains 49-44 on Saturday for the Class 2A championship.

The Hutchinson News reports that the state title is the third straight for St. John (26-0). The 6-foot-9-inch Wade led his team to the win at Bramlage Coliseum where he will play next years after signing with Kansas State.

Central Plains (22-4) was up 25-23 at halftime before its lead dissolved.

Cole Kinnamon also scored in double digits for St. John with 13 points. Braeden Crites led Central Plains with 17 points.
