EMPORIA, Kan. (AP) — Carly Heim scored 22 points to push Hoxie to a 67-53 win over Centralia in the girls’ 1A-1 title game.
Centralia (21-5) kept the game close into the third quarter, but Hoxie (26-0) notched its 4th straight championship by surging ahead with 24 points in the fourth.
Amaris Jones led Centralia in scoring with 18 points and Cassidy Haufler also gave strong production with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Hoxie hit 5 of 14 3-pointers and was consistent at the line, making 22 of 28 free throws. Centralia sunk 6 of 17 its 3-point shots and 7 of 12 free throws.
Hoxie currently holds the record for most consecutive wins among Kansas girls’ basketball programs, having beaten the previous record of 91 set by Little River in 1994 to 1998.
