HUTCHISON, Kan. (AP) — Cami Richardson scored 18 points and had 7 assists to lead Hesston to a 54-40 victory over Cimarron in a battle of undefeated teams in the girls’ 3A state title game.
Cimarron failed to recover from a slow start with just 5 points in the first quarter and Hesston’s 16 points in the final period sealed the deal.
Richardson led the day, but the combo of Caylee Richardson and Kelsey Unruh kept the team in the lead with 14 points and 12 points, respectively.
Cimarron’s top-scorer Morgan Ediger went 3 for 3 on free throws and ended with 12 points.
Both teams were dead-eyes at the line, hitting more than 72 percent of their free throws. But, Hesston proved more accurate from the field sinking 54.5 percent of their shots.
