Victim of fatal crash remembered

WICHITA, Kansas – Two men were hurt, and two others were killed when a car went off the road and ran into a pole Wednesday in southeast Wichita.

Nineteen-year-old Ramaj White and 20-years-old Daraushea Goines survived the accident, but 17-year-old Derrick Burnett and 15-year-old Dontrez Williams did not.

Deputies at the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office are still investigating the accident, but they believe speed was a factor.

KSN spoke with Derrick Burnett’s uncle Thursday afternoon. He said he wants people to remember his nephew as a passionate athlete.

“If anybody knew him, they knew he loved football,” said Dannell Adams, Burnett’s uncle.

Derrick had been playing football since he was 4 years old.

“He’s been playing since he was 4 years old. Played second grade four years. He loved it. Always loved football,” said Adams.

Dannell says his life now won’t be the same. He hopes to send a message.

“You got to learn to be careful when you drive a vehicle. Obey the laws. Don’t be driving fast,” said Adams.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office is still looking for witnesses to the crash.
