Bond raised for Hutchinson coach arrested for child sex crimes

HUTCHINSON, Kansas – Trinity Catholic High School was notified Thursday by the Hutchinson Police Department that Patrick Blevins, a Rule 10 assistant coach for the school, has been arrested on alleged sex crimes involving a Trinity Catholic student.

According to the Reno County Sheriff’s Department website, Blevins was arrested and held on:

  • Two counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child less than 14 years-of-age; Aggravated; Lewd Fondling or Touching; Offender over 17 years of age
  • One count of Sodomy; Aggravated; Offender 18 or older and child less than 14 years-of-age
  • Two counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child less than 14 years-of-age; Aggravated; Cause Child to Engage in Lewd Fondling/Touching; Offender over 17 years of age

The Catholic Diocese of Wichita has said that the crimes did not happen during school activities or on school property. They report that Blevins has been suspended indefinitely and will have “no further contact with any of our students.”

Blevins was an assistant coach for the girl’s basketball team and was never in a classroom.

Bond for Blevins was set at $150,000 on Thursday, but a judge raised the amount to $750,000 on Friday.

Blevin’s next court appearance is scheduled for April 1st at 2 p.m. in Judge McCarville’s courtroom.
