NEW YORK (MEDIA GENERAL) – Just in time for us to start singing about spring instead of snow, Disney is making it official. “Frozen 2” is going to happen!

Disney made the announcement at its annual shareholders meeting saying directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee and producer Peter Del Vecho are all back for the sequel.

“Frozen” tells the story of a princess with magical icy powers who freezes her homeland. Her brave sister, along with a funny snowman and a rugged iceman set off on a journey to save her and her homeland.

Announcing the sequel at the shareholders meeting makes a lot of sense because it’s likely to make a lot of money.

“Frozen” made $1.3 billion in worldwide box office revenue making it the highest grossing animated film of all time. It’s also the fifth-highest grossing film of all time.

Josh Gad, the voice of Olaf in “Frozen,” joined the meeting to help make the announcement. He joked the title would be called “Rogue One.”

Any parent with a child under the age of 10 can probably speak to the film’s licensing power as well. Everything from clothes, to dolls to DVDs were in such demand at one point, they were being auctioned on eBay. The wait to see the characters from the film at Disney World was reportedly five to six hours during the film’s height of popularity.

No release date or production details have been released yet.
