HENRYVILLE, Ind. (AP) — A bus carrying members of a college bowling team has crashed on a southern Indiana highway en route to a tournament in Tennessee. Officials said multiple people were injured.

Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne posted an alert on its website saying the bus was carrying 16 members of the men and women’s bowling teams and their coaches to a tournament in Smyrna, Tennessee, when the crash occurred Thursday just north of Henryville. The scene is about 20 miles north of Louisville, Kentucky.

Indiana Tech spokesman Brian Englehart told WDRB-TV that all of the students are undergraduates. He said school officials do not immediately know the extent of the injuries.

Video shows the white bus on its side in a grassy area off the highway with debris strewn about.

A Clark County sheriff’s office dispatcher said six medical helicopters were called to the scene. Ground ambulances also were on the scene.

Clark County coroner Terry Conway said there were no fatalities at the crash scene, but multiple people were taken to hospitals. He did not know how severely they were injured.
