Man shot in semi behind northeast Wichita bowling alley

WICHITA, Kansas – One person was taken to the hospital in critical condition after a shooting near 29th and Rock Road Friday night. The shooting happened behind Northrock Lanes.

Police were called to the bowling alley in regards to a shooting just after 11 P.M. They found a 32 year old man with a gunshot wound inside a semi truck behind the business.

Sgt. Roger Runft reported that the 32 year old man and his 25 year old cousin were talking to another man when two men wearing bandanas and wielding handguns entered the semi and confronted the three.

The suspects demanded money, but got into an argument with the three. One of the suspects fired three shots, and one struck the 32 year old man in the leg.

The suspects ran away without getting any money in an unknown direction. The victims contacted 9-1-1 and emergency crews rushed the 32 year old to the hospital to treat the gunshot wounds.

He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but police say he is expected to survive.
