Box office preview

It’s man versus machine in “Chappie.” This Neill Blomkamp film takes place in a near future patrolled by oppressive robocops, but when one of the droids is stolen and reprogrammed by Dev Patel, it turns the tin soldier into a thinking, feeling being. “Chappie” is rated R.

It’s a double-dev weekend at “The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.” Dev Patel is here as well as the eager innkeeper hosting an all-star cast of retired ex-pats, but when Richard Gere is added to an already full house, it may be time to open another inn. “The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” is rated PG.

The bad news is Sienna Miller’s trying to steal their deal in “Unfinished Business.” Vince Vaughn’s been downsized by miller and has a make-or-break pact in place for his fledgling company. His ex-boss is not the only obstacle standing in his way. “Unfinished Business” is rated R.

Anthony Hopkins is a hostile hostage in “Kidnapping Mr. Heineken.” The story follows a group of friends as they abduct the heir to a beer empire and wait-out his clever tricks to a record payday. “Kidnapping Mr. Heineken” is in select theaters and on-demand.
