Shockers heading to St. Louis for MVC tournament

WICHITA, Kansas – Six buses rolled out Thursday morning full of Shocker fans heading to the MVC tournament.

The buses left around 7:30 a.m. for the six hour trip to St. Louis. The Shockers will fly out this morning, and they will have about 30 minutes to practice on the court at the Scott Trade Center today.

Wichita State opens Friday against the winner of the play-in game between the eighth and ninth seeds, Missouri State (11-19, 5-13) and Southern Illinois (11-20, 4-14) on Thursday night.

KSN asked Fred VanFleet about a possible rematch against Northern Iowa. The Shockers defeated UNI on Saturday to capture the MVC regular season title.

“We look forward to playing for a championship. We have to take care of business to get there, and so you never know what could happen. I don’t care who we play in the championship as long as we get there, but our first line of business is taking care of whoever we play on Friday.”

The Wichita State game will be played at noon on Friday.
