Students ‘take the plunge’ to raise money for Make-A-Wish

WICHITA, Kansas – Aspiring to raise tens of thousands of dollars for Make-A-Wish, high school swimmers prepare to take the plunge in a marathon swim this month.

Athletes from multiple schools are raising money through area businesses and their respective communities. This year, an anonymous donor has vowed to match the funds raised by swimmers to double the total intake.

Campus coach Kelly Kennedy tells us the swim marathon is a large undertaking for athletes, for a very worthy cause.

“We have, that’s 100 miles per team, per school that’s doing this, campus had five boys, there’ll be one swimmer in the water at a time, each leg is one mile, each swimmer will swim 20 miles, etc,” said Kennedy. “Schools participating get to pick their wish child and they get to help their own community.”

To get involved, contact Campus swim coach Kelly Kennedy at 200-0120. The event starts Friday, February 27 and goes ’round the clock through the following Sunday.
