COMPTON, Calif. (AP) — A lawyer for Marion “Suge” Knight says the Death Row Records founder was driving a vehicle that struck two men, killing one, in Compton, California.
Investigators are calling Knight a “person of interest” in the hit-and-run.
James Blatt tells KABC-TV that Knight was trying to flee after he was attacked and that the man who died was a friend.
Authorities say another of Knight’s lawyers is arranging to have him turn himself in for questioning.
Lt. John Corina says a red pickup truck backed into and then drove forward over the men shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday before taking off. A 59-year-old died, and a 51-year-old was injured.
The lieutenant says Knight was seen driving a red pickup nearby and had gotten into some kind of dispute.
