(KGW) Oregon’s Port of Astoria and its neighbors are up in arms over another invasion of sea lions on the docks.
Two hundred animals, mainly California sea lions, haul out on the docks day and night.
They arrived here near the mouth of the Columbia River, following a huge smelt run up the river.
Biologists say they’ll stay, gorging on the fish and will likely continue the feast when the Chinook salmon arrive in the spring.
It’s a problem that cropped up four years ago and has defied solutions and stopped progress.
