BARBER COUNTY, Kansas – Two officers were injured during a confrontation while out on patrol in Barber County.

A Barber County Sheriff’s deputy and a Medicine Lodge Police officer were checking on Barber County State Lake Tuesday night when law enforcement officials say both were attacked by a man at the lake.

That man, identified as Daniel West, took off in a vehicle.

The officers started to chase West, but they had to stop so they could get treatment for their injuries.

The suspect’s vehicle was found, and he was arrested by officers at 11 a.m. He has not been charged.

West was found hiding in a field two miles northeast of the original incident at Albee Road and Isabel.

Barber County Sheriff Justin Rugg says a total of 10 agencies assisted during the 11 hour search.  The officers were treated and released.
